A Seat for Your Soul
WELCOME
Therapy invites you to know yourself, be yourself, and make changes in your life that are right for you. In times of stress or crisis, it can be easy to focus on the outward aspects of life and neglect the needs and potentials of your inner self. I am an experienced therapist who provides a safe, confidential space — a “seat for your soul” — in which you can explore your unique design and unfolding purpose.
my services
I meet with clients in my Dallas office, by phone, or by videoconference. I work with individual adults on a range of issues, including the following:
grief and loss
relationship issues
spirituality
life transitions
depression/anxiety
stress/coping skills
health issues
career
The initial focus in therapy is on your particular situation and story: what is and isn't working, what you see and don’t see, what your life is trying to teach you, and what you need in order to be able to take the next step with confidence.
Feng Shui, therapy-style
I find that people benefit from working in two directions at once – outward and inward. Your outer life includes the strengths and liabilities of your relationships, finances, work and home life. Your inner life includes your mindset, feelings, dreams, creative impulses, and spiritual life, in whatever form that takes.
Re-ordering your inner and outer worlds can be like rearranging the furniture in your home. It involves removing what you don’t need, uncovering treasures, and creating space for new things to happen. In therapy, this process supports a sense of well-being, beginning with the life you have.
The power of insight
My approach is eclectic but grounded in depth psychology, which is creative and insight-oriented. Insight springs from an inborn human drive to become who you are meant to be. Insight can sharpen your sense of identity and purpose, and reveal the obstacles — both inner and outer — holding you back, so these can be cleared away.
Insight is not limited to a mental action. A true “light bulb” moment has impact on the whole self and includes the body. It re-orders the “circuitry” of the problem, releasing blocks in feeling, thought, and action. Working with images and dreams can be especially potent in this regard. Depending on your needs, I also draw from mindfulness, existential, trauma-based, and cognitive-behavioral techniques.
Moving in the right direction
At its best, therapy produces lasting change and empowers you for living your best life. The process can be enjoyable! There can be a deep sense of peace in knowing you are moving in the right direction.
