About Me
I am an experienced clinical social worker who loves to work in depth with people from all walks of life. Years ago I was a 6th grade English teacher and, after an assignment in which the children wrote their own fairy tales, I became interested in how the stories held patterns of their own personality style. This led to a life-long study of psychology, spirituality, and health, driven by my curiosity about the unique nature of person and their unfolding potential. I think of things broadly, but am also grounded, practical, and collaborative. I am a good listener and like to help clients connect with their internal sources of wisdom and strength and to find their own best way forward.
Work Experience
I have worked for over 20 years in home-based hospice, in the hospital, and (for 14 years) in private practice in New York City; Sun Valley, Idaho; and Dallas, Texas.
Education
My first two degrees were a BA in English (Wheaton College, IL) and an MA in Psychiatry and Religion (Union Theological Seminary, NY). Later, I completed a Master of Social Work (CUNY: Hunter College School of Social Work) as well as several years of training at the C.G. Jung institute of New York. Since obtaining my clinical level of social work licensure in 2008 and beginning private practice, I have pursued continuing education in current psychological research and treatment methods. In general, I consider myself a life-long learner with varied interests.
More about me
I have a keen interest in how people heal, a gift for encouragement, and a love of mysteries. My fun-loving young-adult children and husband keep me from becoming too serious. For fun, I enjoy road trips, poetry, long walks, and audiobooks.
